a blog by La Kifo The Patriots are good for at least one "What the fuck" move in the draft every year. Picking Jacoby Brisset 91st overall in the third round deserves more than a "What the fuck", it's more like are you fucking kidding me? I really hate this pick. It is an absolute waste of a quality pick. Do not tell me believe in Bill. Bill did not make this pick. Don’t give me the Tom Brady example, Oh he was sixth round pick, they didn’t need a quarterback they just took him. Yea I fucking know, I know more than you about it. Just because they made a smart decision to draft a guy who Bill liked and had fallen a considerable amount. This wasn’t the 199th pick. This was the 91st pick. Back then we had one good QB on the roster, not the best QB of all time, a slightly above average QB. Right now we have theoretically two QBs on the roster. At least according to everyone who loves tan handsome. And I’m gonna throw another tid bit in your face here, Jacoby Brisset didn’t fall in the draft. If anything, he was taken early. Between 10- 32 picks early. Yea I know that’s a large range but a lot of teams with QBs won’t draft another QB that early. Teams like Carolina, Seattle, Falcons, Packers, Colts, and Baltimore, none of those teams drafted QB before the 6th round. Most of them didn’t draft a single QB.
There’s that and there’s the fact that this kid SUCKS. I just evaluated Red’s cousin who is a junior in high school. He ran a 5.00 forty, Brisset ran a 4.94. Betro, by the time he graduates will run a faster 40 time that this guy. I am just going to raddle off everything I’ve seen after spending my entire weekend watching his games. Terrible footwork, Terrible velocity, No consistent velocity, gets weaker as the game progresses, bad pocket awareness, no deep accuracy, none, he has no deep accuracy, takes false steps, awful at play fakes, awful at pump fakes, never recognizes the blitz, never, that might be related to his offense but it is still something to notice, gives ground when breaking the pocket or while inside the pocket, often scrambles into pressure when moving vertically in the pocket, moves awful inside the pocket, takes big hits often, in every single game he gets leveled at least 3 times, has a pretty slow throwing motion. Brisset is a couple of flaws away from Tebow level, and I’m wearing Patriots Tebow Jersey right now. Like I said Brisset is a better version of Tim Tebow. Why am I saying that? Why such comparisons to Tim Tebow? Bill Belichick did not make this pick, Josh McDaniels did. I 100 percent know that Josh McDaniels made this pick. McDaniels was the guy who drafted Tebow in 2010 as the Denver Broncos head coach, with the 25th pick. No one else was going to draft him in the first 5 rounds probably, but McDaniels had to have him. McDaniels was fired before he could finish his second season. And for good reason, he wasted a first round pick on a player who was garbage. Fast forward to 2013 and Tim Tebow is signed by the Patriots after being cut by the Jets. Who was the offensive coordinator? Josh McDaniels. Who was jumping for joy after each Tebow touchdown in the final game of the 2013 preseason? McDaniels. If it was up to Josh, he would have kept Tebow on the team. This is Josh’s Tebow 2.0. This will be a project Josh stays all over. He wants a big linebacker built quarterback that can run. Throwing for some reason is not a big concern of his, considering Tebow was the worst passer in NFL history, and while Brisset is not close to Tebows ineptitude, he is still not an NFL ready passer. Also pretty much anything that makes a QB good in any sense of the definition, seems not to be a concern of McDaniels when building his future QB. I am not saying that the 91st pick is super valuable, but I am. It is a third round pick. Teams can find starters in the first 3 rounds, or at least find contributors in those rounds. Obviously the first half of the draft has the best players. The third round and even the second, every year has talented guys who were passed over for one reason or the other. Sometimes they are just overlooked, but they are there. Every year there are a decent amount of talented players’ exited college in the third round. The Patriots wasted a pick on a guy who wasn’t even the best QB left on the board at that point. Connor Cook, Trevone Boykin, Dak Prescott, Keenan Reynolds were both still on the board (Boykin did not get drafted). If they were really looking QB with that pick they had so many better options, mainly Connor Cook. Also there was Keenan Reynolds and Dak Prescott both on board. Keenan Reynolds is a better runner and athlete. Dak Prescott is the same QB as Brisset. Can't really throw but can run well. Prescott got picked a full round later. I hate this pick. I hate this pick. Maybe if I keep saying it, it will go away. That is not how the world works, you need to live with your mistakes. I just hope that Belichick coaches long enough that Josh becomes impatient enough to leave his incumbent head coaching job for somewhere else. Because if this pick is indicative of the moves that he will make, then I want no part of him leading my team. Comments are closed.
