a blog by La Kifo I think we can all agree Super Gyro movies are coming out far too often. Maybe not, maybe this is the golden age of super gyros. In either case, no period of time has had this many super gyro productions released. Start it at the turn of the century, 2000 if you dont know what that means. Since 2000 there have been 63 movies released under the rights of an individual publisher, by that I mean Marvel comics, DC comics, or some other small COMIC BOOK company no has heard of. What I did not count were original scripts for superhero movies, that had 0 affiliation with a comic book company, an example of a movie like that would be Hancock or the Adventures of Shark boy and Lava girl. 63, since 2000. That is fucked up. Since 2010 there have been 27. If you have some knowledge of the comic book universe, you will understand that out of those 63, 39 took place in the Marvel Universe. So expect something like 30 to be coming from DC universe production team in the upcoming years. I have and somewhat continue to be a fan of this new "genre". I like the concept of comic book universes but not the patience to read through them. That is why I have liked this new age type of movie making. Where they shoot one movie that is a prequel to like 50 movies. It is kinda cool, seeing cartoons and drawings being acted out and visualized completely on screen. The problem with reoccurring characters and actors, is they age. Year to year some actors can look drastically different. This is not a problem that these comic book movies have had to address, but they will have to if they want to continue the way they are. My biggest problem with Super Gyro movies is what they have done to them recently. X-Men whatever the newest one is called has totally lost me. Whatever studio owns the movie rights have fucked up the story line so much, I dont know who is who anymore. In the early 2000s, there was a series of 3 X-Men movies. The first time anyone has ever made a X-Men movie. Recently the studio rebooted the story but not really. Instead of just starting over they chose to make like 3 movies dedicated to confusing the entire time line of the once comic books. Somehow Wolverine goes back in time or something and everyone besides him gets played by a different shittier actor. Halle Berry gone, no more, Chick who played mystic switched out for the "normal funny" hot girl Jennifer Lawrence, Guys who played the person who controlled metal and professor X, both exchanged for younger British accent actors. Somewhere along the timeline Tim Riggons was in there playing poker with a staff or something. Just restart, don't give me this weird bullshit about time travel and just randomly replacing people. I dont care that you swapped out some really good actors for shitty ones, some were really old and others just not good looking anymore. I understand that.
My biggest problem with super gyro movies? They have literally all just become an B-list celebrity orgy. Like how many headline making names do you fucking need? How many mediocre but hot actors/actresses do you need? How many recently famous people do you need? Some of the casts are a joke. The newest X-Men movie, heres the roster: Olivia Munn (super hot, mediocre actress), Jennifer Lawrence (hot, extremely mediocre actress), Sansa from Game of Thrones (good looking, brutal actress), Oscar Isaac the dude from EX Machina not the ginger also the pilot in the new Star Wars (good looking dude, overrated, I did really like him in EX Machina, different blog for a different day.), Evan Peters ( the one guy from the original American Horror Story cast who forgot to make a successful career for himself), James Mccavoy & Michael Fassbender (If these guys made anything less of 25 million from these movies then I will lose all respect for them), then there is a girl who starred as the lead in a reboot Drumline movie (yes a reboot from that terrible Nick Cannon movie). Joke. Most of those names are hollywood whores, thats not a bad thing just means they have been a lot of movies recently. Honestly nothing distracts me more when a shitty actor comes into frame that has been in the past 5 movies I have went to see. It gets cheesy after 15 years and multiple sets of different actors. So stop fucking with my head X-Men and stop casting every B-list celebrity into Super Gyro movies. Comments are closed.
