If you have been to a Sports Authority recently you may not be surprised by this news. Sports Authority joins Decathlon as another failed large scale sports department store. After declaring bankruptcy, the chain stores executives decided to liquidate its assets instead of a reorganization plan that could have kept the brand alive.
Happy Day. Happy Happy Happy Day.
Fuck Sports Authority. I went into my local Sports Authority a couple weeks ago to return a pair of shoes my dad bought online. When I walked towards the sports store, I noticed cheap blowout signs littering the entrance.
Whenever you see a "Blowout Sale" sign, it should make you wonder how long the business has left to live. When a place has about 8 to 10 signs, lazily taped all over the front doors, their doors must be closing within the week.
So I walked inside to do my return. Some douche stopped me before I could even realize that I had entered the place. We get to talking as he asked me what he could help me with. Yea I know what an asshole. I told him I wanted to return these shoes that my dad bought online. To my surprise, the guy told me that due to their "sale" they were not taking any returns. Of course I had to know more.
I asked the guy, "so when is the sale over? Can I bring them back then?" He looked confused and said something like they are trying to get rid of all the inventory in stock. That way they could renovate the store and reopen it later. It was just about one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Before I talked to this guy, I knew the store was closing. In my usual pissed off fashion, I walked out while clearly stating, "That's fucking stupid, fuck this store, it sucks".
You guys don't need to tell me, I nailed those bitches. The 3 cashiers and greeter who heard me probably realized how stupid Sports Authority is and handed in their two weeks notice that day.
If any of you have a Sports Authority near you, I seriously suggest heading there for a shopping spree if their still open. I know I will be heading back to that Sports Authority to try and return those shoes again.
