a blog by Iron HorseThe Bruins and Red Wings meet on Thursday night in the TD Garden to basically decide if the Bruins playoff hopes will live another day. While the Bruins mathematically cannot be eliminated from the playoffs tonight, it would require them to beat Ottawa on Saturday, while Philadelphia would have to lose their final 3 games. Including a game against the worst team in the NHL in the Toronto Maple Leafs. And with a game in hand, and how hot this team has been that doesn’t seem likely. (Minus fucking last night of course the Red Wings beat them 3-0…..) The Bruins were without Dennis Seidenberg at practice yesterday as well as Jimmy Hayes. While the Jimmy Hayes piece doesn’t bother me as much because he’s played as bad as anyone down this stretch. Jimmy hasn’t recorded a point in 16 games, (since February) and his play on the ice has looked to be scared play to me. While Dennis Seidenberg has had a down year as well from years past in his role as stay at home defensemen. I would much rather see him up in this big game to counter the Red Wings top 2 lines. I will be at this game tonight, live tweeting from the @ForTheBoys_Blog twitter account so go toss that a follow if you want to see me lose my shit at this game tonight. (Also will be sending some stuff from my personal accout @Gehrig28). Original 6 match up tonight, Red Wings can clinch a berth to the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the Bruins can push themselves way closer to that with a win in regulation tonight. PLAYOFF CONDITIONS: Bruins hold the season series lead over Detroit 2-1-0 but if Detroit wins this game in any fashion they clinch a playoff berth whether we tie in points at the end of the season or not. The tiebreaker being ROW (Regulation-Overtime Wins) in Detroit’s advantage. So with Detroit at 93 points and the Bruins at 91, they would still have to win against Ottawa theoretically and pray for a Detroit loss on the road at MSG against the Rangers, even if the B's win tonight. The Rangers hopefully will not play a down game with the Islanders nipping at their heels in the Metropolitan division. But that's just a hope.. LET’S FUCKING GO B’S! -Iron Horse Comments are closed.
