OKC and Magic trade sends Oladipo and Sabonis to OKC

I know I know, this is a pretty late blog. I've been super busy writing blogs about other trades and draft picks, that I didn't have time to get around to this. Regardless, here ya go...

Here are the terms of the trade:

Thunder Receive: Victor Oladipo, Damontas Sabonis, and  Ersan Ilysova

Magic Receive: Serge Ibaka

When this trade was initially announced at the draft, I did not hear that OKC was also going to receive Victor Oladipo. So I was dying laughing at how bad of a trade this was. Upon doing a two second google search on the specifics of the trade, I completely changed my mind. I think the trade is pretty fair, considering how talented I think Serge Ibaka is. If Sabonis turns out to be a decent pro, then It looks like Oklahoma City might have won this deal. Victor Oladipo is already a proven NBA scorer, and in my mind a huge upgrade from Dion Waiters. I got the opportunity to attend prep school in Ohio for my post graduate year of high school. Many times throughout the year we were lucky enough to go to Cavaliers games when Dion Waiters was on the team, and let me be the first to tell you he was very underwhelming. However, Waiters definitely showed up during the post season this year, and there's no doubt in my mind that he will sign with a new franchise during free agency starting July 1st. Once again, we'll have to just wait and see how Sabonis plays in the summer league to see how fair this trade really was.
