Panera Bread serves local child with life threatening peanut allergy, a grilled cheese, with peanut butter on it.
Boston.com:
A Natick family is suing Panera after their 6-year-old daughter with peanut allergies was served peanut butter inside her grilled cheese sandwich, reports The Boston Globe. The court complaint says the restaurant “engaged in unfair and deceptive business practices by adding peanut butter to the plaintiff’s grilled cheese sandwich knowing that [she] has a life-threatening peanut allergy.” When the girl’s parents ordered the sandwich via the company’s online system in January, they say they specified in two places that the grilled cheese was for a child with a peanut allergy. The girl, who is not named in the lawsuit, vomited after eating the sandwich and was taken to the hospital by her parents, where she broke out in hives, was given a shot of epinephrine, and stayed the night. John Russo, the girl’s father, said he called the manager of the Natick Panera the night of the incident and was told there may have been a “language” issue, that an employee with limited English could have misread the order. Russo does not believe the manager’s explanation. Anyone, any institution, or business that uses peanut butter in grilled cheese, deserves to be sued into oblivion. They should go bankrupt at least twice, and be castrated. Peanut butter on grilled cheese just defies logic. How can anyone make a sandwich with peanut butter and cheese, not thinking, what the fuck is this? Who is this person, totally confident in the legitimacy of a meal that consists of toasted bread, melted cheese, and hot peanut butter? Did he throw in some tomato soup? If he did, how could he not question what he just made? Peanut butter and Tomato soup is almost as bad as a grilled cheese with peanut butter. I honestly can not get over this. It's insane, tom-foolery. I feel like I am getting Ashton Kutchered. No one thought, why does this ticket say to combine peanut butter with grilled cheese? 'Maybe this person is a psychopath, we shouldn't serve him'. That would be an acceptable thought process, or they could just call the person, because they have a phone number attached to the order, and ask him why he wants peanut butter combined with grilled cheese. Then he would explain that his daughter was allergic, and the employees would have figured that it was a misprint. That way, no one is psychopath, no one has to eat peanut butter when they have a life threatening allergy, and no one has to get sued.
Fuck Panera Bread. I was always on the cusp of hatred with them, I used to like some of their food. Not anymore. Any clown dumb enough to put peanut butter on a grilled cheese regardless of the situation, is not worthy of making and serving me food.
