If you're reading this article and are anywhere near the world of baseball you probably know that Mookie Betts hit 5! home runs in the last 2 games for the Red Sox on their trip down to Camden Yards in Baltimore. But here's a few things you may not have known about the Sox illustrious leadoff hitter.
This video above is from the 3 HR game on Tuesday night in Baltimore... What you might not know is the that the 2nd home run, was the first opposite field home run of Mookie Betts' still very young career. With the additional 2 home runs last night Mookie Betts joins 2 other Red Sox in the franchises history to hit 5 home runs in a 2 game span. Joining Nomar Garciaparra (July 21-23, 2002), and Carl Yastrzemski (May19-20, 1976). Mookie is also the 2nd youngest player to ever accomplish the feat, trailing only Bryce Harper who did it at 22, while Mookie is 24.
Mookie Betts while not known as a power hitter has certainly done his part in that department for the Red Sox this season hitting 14 home runs this year so far (his total last year was 18 in 145 games). Mookie Betts only trails Big Papi on the Red Sox in home runs, Ortiz has 1 more at 15 which he belted last night to maintain his lead.
Mookie also set an MLB record for hitting leadoff home runs in back to back games, keep them coming Mookie, we love you buddy...
