a blog by Schoolboy Jew If this game means something, we shouldn't be putting players other than the best ones in the starting lineup. I love the MLB all star game. Hell, I love the whole weekend. The home run derby is awesome to watch, the atmosphere is incredible, and it is a lot of fun. However, ever since 2003, the MLB has decided that whoever wins the all star game gets home field advantage in the World Series. No other major professional sport has their all star game mean a damn thing. So here is the problem: the MLB leaves the decisions on the starting lineup to the fans. In 2015, this really came under fire because 8 out of the 9 starting lineup starts were occupied by players from the Kansas City Royals. Fans were outraged as not all of the Royals players are the best at their position, although some of them sure are. So if the MLB is to continue having the all star game to mean something, they need to stop leaving the
