Miesha Tate my Girl Bantam Weight Champ

My girl showed out a couple nights ago. Underdog the whole way. I was with her the whole way.
Really good night of fighting. The Tate v. Holm was probably the best. I would not have been surprised if the judges card had Holm winning the first four rounds. The fight started out slow like a chess match. Holly Holm is not an aggressive fighter, her style relies upon counter strikes and distance leg kicks. Miesha usually is a aggressive fighter who likes to control the octagon and find a chance for a takedown. She fought a revised and plotted game plan in this fight and it was brilliant. She played Holm's game. She was patient, waited for the Holly to open her body up and striked. She didn't get selfish and overexpose herself trying to knock out Holm. She used her strong first punch to lay work on Holms body and face.

While Tate employed her ultimately winning strategy, the early rounds did not seem to faze Holm. She was winning the cards and throwing a significant amount more strikes than Miesha. Towards the middle rounds Holm laid a lot of body kicks and a few of head kicks. The amount of strikes Holm threw in the early round had to play a factor in the late rounds, as Tate seemed to close the gap. She landed more punches and got Holm to the ground in round two and the last round. Tate was also making erratic head movement, changing her head level which at points made it hard for Holm to judge and connect her punches. In the final round Tate found an opening on a tired Holm and took her down.

Immediately Tate gained control of her back and then of her neck underneath Holm's chin. Tate held on after a vicious flip that landed the two of them back on the mat. Tate's grip did not relent until Holm threw air punches of a dying champion passing out and Big John McCarthy ended the fight.

Props to Holly Holm, she is a very good fighter. She WAS 10-0 and the Bantam Weight Champ. She will be competing for the belt in the years to come. The Bantam Weight division in womens UFC is where all the stars are. The best women fighters are in that division. Holly is one of the stars. Any other fight, I'm rooting for her. But not this night, not against Miesha.

Feels good to be on top and I am proud of my girl on a gritty comeback win.
18-5, Bantam Wieght Champion of the world.
