His breaking pitches are almost as filthy as his beard
The Detroit Tigers have a rookie starting pitcher named Michael Fulmer pitching for them this year named Michael Fulmer and if you have heard of him, you know that this guy is NASTY. He has a great pitching repertoire and can mow down hitters at a crazy pace. Here are highlights from his first MLB start back in late April.
So this guy is starting to get better and better with each start and going deeper into games. In his next start on May 6, he faced a team featuring possibly the most powerful lineup in the MLB, the Toronto Blue Jays. But check out how Fulmer easily handled them, going six innings and giving up no runs, giving him the longest scoreless inning streak for a Tigers rookie pitcher with 22 and 1/3 innings.
Want more proof that this guy is the real deal? Fulmer took the mound against the Yankees today and I think it's safe to say that the guy was almost untouchable. Six innings, two hits, zero runs. That scoreless streak I mentioned before is now at 28 and 1/3 innings. His scoreless streak is now the second longest in the history of the Detroit Tigers franchise, which has been around since 1894, not that long. Fulmer is also just the second MLB pitcher to pitch at least six shutout innings and allow three or fewer hits in four starts in a row since 1893. This guy is legit, and you heard it here first at For The Boys.
