A man from Arizona decided to steal a package off a UPS cargo flight while he was unloading it. Lucky for him he found a huge diamond worth 160k. Unlucky for this guy, he thought the diamond was not worth much, and traded it for a measly $20 bag of weed.
ABC News - An Arizona man could have gotten himself one of the fanciest cars on the road and had money left over with what a diamond he allegedly stole was worth, but instead police say he traded the $160,000 gem for $20 worth of marijuana.
Walter Earl Morrison, 20, of Phoenix, Az., was charged with felony theft after he allegedly stole a package containing the diamond while unloading a UPS cargo plane, authorities told ABC's Phoenix affiliate KNXV-TV.
The diamond was valued at $160,000, according to KNXV-TV. That's enough money to buy a Maserati sports car and still have enough left over to make a down payment on a house.
But Morrison had different plans.
He traded in the $160,000 diamond for $20 worth of weed, which according to a global marijuana price index is the rough equivalent of two joints.
A spokesperson for UPS told KNXV that the diamond was recovered and delivered to its intended customer. Morrison was fired.
What a fucking idiot. Talk about a shitty day. Not only was this guy fired and arrested, but he lost out on the opportunity to make 160 grand. This will forever be the worst day of his life. If I was to steal this diamond, I'd do two things before letting it go. First off, I'd do as much research as possible on it, and if I couldn't find anything I would take it to a pawn shop just to find out a value (Even though the pawn shop owner would low ball me). Next and maybe the most important thing I would do, is sit on the diamond for years. If I know one thing, it's that it is WAY to easy to get caught in these situations by selling stolen items too quickly. I'd sit on that diamond for years upon years until finally I felt comfortable selling it. Not to mention I would not sell it to a pawn shop or a jeweler who would have to file the diamond in their records. I'd go to some sort of underground auction that couldn't be trace the sale back to me.
I had one major take away from the article and it has to deal with the amount of weed this guy traded it for. Obviously, he's a moron for letting it go for only 20 dollars. However, the real question here is how the fuck do the People at ABC get two joints out of a 20 bag. Apparently, they are either still getting one gram 20 bags like we used to all get in high school, or nobody at ABC News knows how to roll properly? A 20 bag, makes ONE fat joint, and that's it.
