It's October, which means it's officially the month of the MadBum.
Before I start this post, I KNOW THE TIGERS AREN'T IN THE PLAYOFFS. STOP TEXTING ME ABOUT IT. That being said, let's get started. Last night, Madison Bumgarner did what Madison Bumgarner does. Throw scoreless innings in a high pressure playoff game, this one being a game 7 type atmosphere since it was a wild card game. MadBum went the distance, giving up no runs on four hits to a Mets lineup that has the capability to do damage at any time. Yes, the Mets have a lot of injuries but even when they limped into the playoffs, their offense was still pretty good. But this is not the first time MadBum has gone out and shut a team down. 2014 may seem like forever ago but it was also the year that MadBum became a household name with his dynamic performance in the 2014 World Series, earning him his third ring. In his last nine playoff appearances, he is 5-1, has a 0.79 ERA in 68 and 2/3 innings. Oh, and he also has a save. Not just any save though, a five inning save. On three days rest. The worst start he had in the 2014 playoffs was an eight inning start where he gave up 3 runs. That's his worst start! 23 of the 68 and 2/3 innings have been scoreless. This guy isn't just good. He is crazy good. Did I mention he's also a badass? The guy throws in chaw, hunts in the offseason(and probably the regular season too), but to top it all off, he will fight ANYONE. His favorite person to go after? Yasiel Puig, one of the most built guys in the league. But MadBum doesn't care because he's a badass. Oh, and did I mention he loves himself a good brew?
Ride on, Madbum. Keep being you, you badass.
