a live blog by La Kifo As of the moment I am writing this, answers to ballot question #4 in Massachusetts are reported at 10% complete by the Boston Globe. I will be here with you until the final vote is cast on this question and hopefully by the end I won't have to move to a more enlightened state. 9:28, 13% complete: Yes, 51.7/ No, 48.3
Let's go baby. I don't want to get to ahead of myself here but I'm pumped. So far a lot of the towns where the votes are still being tallied, the answer yes is leading. Those towns being, Plymouth, Boston, Ashland, Framingham, Newton, Brookline, Beverly, and Lowell. Any western Mass town that has a vote counted, is reported 100% complete. My guess is that Yes, clean sweeps western Mass, as well as the ones that I mentioned are leading but not complete. Just so we are clear, the towns of Danvers, Middleton, Topsfield, Chelmsford, Shrewsbury, Holden, Sandwich, Dennis, Metheun, Northborough, Southborough, Randolph, and Wellesly have completed counting the votes. Those towns are dead to me, as they have majority voted no. 9:44, 20% complete: Yes, 52.5/ No, 47.5 Here we go baby, a lot of results are pouring in and it is pretty hard to keep track. The towns that since the last update have completed and majority claimed no, are Harwich and Norwell. 9:55, 25% complete: Yes, 52.6 / No, 47.4 Wenham, Burlington, Sterling, Boylston, Reading, W. Bridgewater, Walpole and Norwood have added to the No column as they have completed counting votes and as the gap seems to slowly shrink in the battle of the towns. As I thought, Yes is making, so far, a clean sweep of Western Mass towns that have completed counting votes. 10:10, 34% complete: Yes, 52.6/No, 47.4 Add, Wrentham, Agawam, Woburn, N. Andover, and Hingham to the no column. The trend I have begun to notice is the majority of towns whom have solidified no on question 4 are the north eastern section of Mass, and the majority of the Cape. The big question will be if the No voters can get a large percentage of the high population towns on their side. A lot of the towns in Western Mass choosing yes have small populations. Some of them don't even have 1,000 voters. 10:20, 39% complete: Yes, 52.8 /No, 47.2 W. Boylston, Saugus, Chatham, and Sherborn have added to the no total, but it seems like the support of denying legal weed is dying down. Boston is the main battleground town. Right now they are overwhelming voting Yes, despite the mayors desperate pleas. Also, Dedham has ended in a tie, which is pretty crazy considering there are 14,238 registered voters in the town. 10:30, 41% complete: Yes, 53/ No, 47 Zero additions to the No side of things. Obviously, the Yes vote is gaining a small amount of traction. I don't think that this race will open up. I think it will end up no more than a 6% difference. 10:40, 48% complete: Yes, 52.9/No, 47.1 Bridgewater, Longmeadow, Westborough, Sudburyy, Peabody, Wilbraham, Dover, Wakefield all have made sure that the No people have not gone away. 11:00, 54% complete: Yes, 52.8/ No, 47.2 The no list continues to keep themselves in the race. Duxbury, Needham, Ludlow, Lynnfield, Yarmouth, Everett, E. Longmeadow, Bourne. 11:30, 65% complete: Yes, 53.3/ No, 46.7 WE DID IT. If my projections/math are/is right, then no matter what else happens, Legal weed has passed in Massachusetts. Comments are closed.
