Introducing our newest segment here at For The Boys Blog, Mike's Fact of The Week. Let's just say this fact has to do with ugly people, and I'll leave it at that.
Who is Mike, I'm sure you're all wondering. Well he's my older brother, and we refer to him as the "Walking Encyclopedia". He is obsessed with learning new facts, and dominates the bar trivia scene in the greater Boston area. So without further ado, here is Mike's first fact of the week.
It was ILLEGAL to be ugly in the City of Chicago from 1881-1974.
I know what you're thinking, how the fuck can this be a thing, but trust me it's the real deal. I spent about two minutes reading a wikipedia page, so you know it's got to be true.
Basically the law stated that due to overpopulation, and a massive amount of street beggars, the city of Chicago was forced to create the "Ugly Law". The Law was initially made to get rid of these beggars, however I'm fairly confident some dudes who looked like this were put behind bars.
Violators of the Ugly Law were find $50 for the first few offenses, and then eventually incarcerated. Talk about a brutal law, that I'm sure applied to 50% of the city.
