a blog by Iron Horse We got some good old fashioned Clegane smashings, and a little bit of scandal in the otherwise build up oriented Episode 8 titled "No One". We start our review where the episode started and ended with Arya. As I think this is the last time we'll see Arya this season. Arya seemed to pretty much completely screwed after getting stabbed by the Waif last week, being so dumb and letting some old lady just walk up on her. But we had to know that Arya was going to find a way to survive, what I didn't realize was that the waif would find her so easily again. After Arya wakes up from drinking the milk of the poppy and the actress heads into the other room, I was like holy shit there really going to kill her... The camera following the actress was a tease shot and I knew that Arya was still in a ton of pain so I didn't think Arya would be able to find her way out of this one. But she pulled a fast one and found her way back to her hovel and killed the lights and fought blind. Just like she had trained to in the house of Black & White. A girl is no longer "No One", but a girl is fucked if she doesn't find a way to get back home and quickly because it is not likely she will find friends in her current state. The world of Game of Thrones is unforgiving, and although I don't think we'll see Arya the rest of the season I think we need to at least get a little bit of closure as to how she plans on getting back to Westeros. Here comes the neighborhood.... and by neighborhood I mean King's Landing This honestly did crush my hopes and dreams but I didn't realize it until today. Delayed crushed hopes, and hype for the Clegane Bowl scenario I talked about in a previous blog is completely gone. On the bright side though Tommen may actually be the reason that Cersei dies which is a crazy plot twist one which I did not see coming. Sucks that we won't get to see the Clegane brothers fight this season or the next likely but it does leave more to think about in terms of the coming episodes for Cersei and her fate. I love the fact that Tommen is actually doing what he thinks is best but he's going to end up losing his mom or his wife. If his mom dies he will be subject to whatever the High Sparrow can manipulate him into doing. If Margery is truly faking and gets caught I am sure the High Sparrow has a plan for that too with Tommen. It seems as though the High Sparrow completely runs the show now in King's Landing. He's got the support of the common folk and the ear of the king on his side. The banning of the trial by combat, completely the High Sparrow's idea and it is his only way to ensure Cersei is out of the picture one way or another.. Also side note, love the Zombie Mountain I really hope he gets to freak out and fuck shit up a couple more times.. Next up we have the good old folks up North in Sandor Clegane, Thoros of Myr, and Beric Dondarion... This was just the nail in the coffin for "Clegane Bowl", the Hound is deciding to use his fighting ability to fight the good fight with the Brotherhood without Banners. Thoros and Beric have convinced the Hound that he doesn't have to go completely back to his old ways. He found them on a quest for vengeance but they persuade him into realizing that he might have found them for a purpose. That the White Walkers marching south is the only real issue that faces the world. I also don't think that we'll see anymore of Clegane and this band of misfits since for the foreseeable future it looks like they will be taking their talents North beyond the Wall. But again I enjoyed seeing The Hound back in action hacking and slashing his way through guys, and delivering fantastic marquis Game of Thrones one-liners all while doing so. I also thought it was ironic how Arya and Clegane (who used to be travelling buddies until Brienne almost murdered him), are on this same similar sort of journey. They both have been in a type of identity crisis with who they are, Sandor trying to be a good man, and Arya trying to be a faceless person. They both are now realizing in the same episode who they really are though. The Hound realizes he's a fighter, but that doesn't make him a bad person and Arya finally says her name and who she is again. They both have come full circle and hopefully will now be able to flesh out their characters a little more. Onto Riverrun with Jamie, Brienne, Podrick, Bronn, Edmure, the Blackfish and more!! So we had a very big build up here and this by far was the most disappointing of this entire episode for me. We didn't get to see the Blackfish in his final stand for his home, which I'm not sure really means he's dead but let's assume he is. I would have loved to have seen him have a final stand much like Sir Barristan Selmy did in Meereen along side Greyworm. I think Edmure will play no more significant role the rest of the series he's basically just a pawn for the Lannisters and the Frey's at this point. The interaction between Bronn and Podrick was fantastic a little old school love from Bronn and Pod. Gotta love that. Jamie and Brienne reuniting to talk about their past as well as Brienne's intentions was good for story but again nothing to flashy happened this episode. At least here, Jamie talking to Edmure being a douche talking about how he respects Cersei the same way he respected Caitlyn Stark. Just a lot of filler. The Frey's and Lannisters have taken control of Riverrun once again and now Jamie is free to return to King's Landing and deal with Cersei in her predicament. Last but definitely not least Danerys and Tyrion in Meereen.... This really was sped up for the show I believe, I don't imagine Dany and the Horde would make it back so fast. I mean we haven't seen the Horde yet but I don't imagine Dany just left them all to find their way to Meereen without a leader.. Plus I wonder if they are there or not yet because she doesn't seem truly panicked when she strolls into the room. She has the same type of look that Tywin Lannister had on when he returned to save the Lannisters from the sack of King's Landing by Stannis Baratheon. Strolling on his horse, in this case Daenerys on Drogon she really seems like nothing is going to go wrong here. I can only pray that we see all 3 dragons just burning down all those ships, except a few of course because Dany could use those. I also could see the Greyjoy's riding to Dany's aid in the event that the Horde doesn't make in time to kill the masters forces at the beach head. I can't wait to see what happens here but we may have to wait until episode 10.... And here's why... THIS EPISODE IS ABOUT TO BE SO LIT.... I'm talking Watchers on the Wall x The Red Wedding meets the freakin Battle of Blackwater Bay!
Will Ramsay eat it? Will Jon be killed again? Will the Starks reclaim Winterfell? Will Littlefinger bring the Knights of the Vale to aid the Starks? It's going to be so awesome watching this season culminate in the biggest battle yet. I'm going to go ahead and throw out a crazy guess... I'm going to say neither Jon OR Ramsay die, but instead as the battle is coming to an end the walkers appear.... DUN DUN DUUHHHHH Yep that's right, team white walker coming in hot! Winter is Coming ladies and gentlemen..... Winter. Is. Coming... Comments are closed.
