Wow what a fantastic episode, I told one of my housemates before I came home tonight that I thought this would be the episode we get Jon back, as you can see from my tweet above I was quite pleased with that. Purely based on the fact that 2 seasons ago they killed Jeoffrey in episode 2.
First things first, let's talk about Bran...
So for those of you that don't know still about Bran's quest and what's been going on let me attempt to fill you in. Bran has been training with the "3 eyed raven" to begin to control his "Worg"ness meaning that he is beginning to control more of his visions, instead of accidentally accessing memories. He's learning to put himself in moments of the past.
His vision this episode leads him back to his home of Winterfell around 35 years prior, when his father Ned, is training in the yard with his Uncle (former First Ranger of the Nights Watch) Benjen Stark learning to fight. Just a vision, nothing of great significance other than seeing his father and aunt Lyanna Stark who is a key character in this shows history (which according to the preview for next week we will find out more about in the next episode in another vision). Next up Ramsay....
I honestly might be in the minority here, but I love this power play by Ramsey. The scene starts with Ramsay, his father Roose, and the Karstark leader talking about searching for Sansa Stark after hearing that their search party was unsuccessful in retrieving her. It is at this moment the maester of the Dreadfort walks in to inform them that Roose's wife has just birthed a son. This is when Ramsay promptly walks over, congratulates his father before he stabs him in the heart. Now during this previous conversation Ramsay states that they all know where Sansa is going she only has 1 real option, The Wall.
While we all know now that Jon is back from the dead, nobody outside of the wall knew that he had died. So Ramsay's plan has to be to march against the wall, where we know the wildlings as well as Jon's closer friends in the Nightswatch still stand. Ramsay however does not know the wildlings have joined their cause, he thinks that he can march in with a small force and kill Jon. But as the season trailers reveal to us, the Boltons have a war coming, I'm going to guess that Ramsay tries this small group tactic and finds out that their is actually a much larger force at Castle Black which means the war is coming. And oh yah it will be so bad ass, cause just like the last Bolton war. This one will have even MORE Ramsay being a savage. (Ramsay is growing on me now that he's not raping Sansa). Onto the next story with the Lannisters...
Okay so I'm going to make this one shorter because honestly not a lot happened here...
-Zombie Mountain murders people talking shit about his Cruella Deville -Tommen doesn't allow mom to go to her daughters funeral out of fear she'll be imprisoned -Jamie Lannister makes his son go apologize to mom -Jamie Lannister meets the high sparrow and they have a very Game of Thrones type conversation -Tommen apologizes to mommy, says he shoulda been stronger βOnto the Greyjoys
Again, not a whole lot despite the death of Balon Greyjoy. This guy was so old he was about to die any day now. So what happens now with the return of Balon's brother Euron Greyjoy, other than his death is that I believe that the Iron Islands will begin to move in a new direction instead of this ridiculous attempt to conquer the world. The Greyjoy's have always been a power hungry people but despite that they actually have the best policy to elect a new king, they vote. Yes someone in this show has a democracy.
Also Theon abandons Sansa and says he's going home. Not sure if he means the Iron Islands but that will be interesting if he shows up in the middle of this. Tyrion and Mereen are next!
Again not a lot to talk about here, Tyrion drinks and he knows things, nothing we didn't already know. BUT OH YAH BABY HERE COME THE DRAGONS. Rhaegal and Viserion are coming out to eat, quite literally. Huge balls by Tyrion to go down and let them out, not sure how okay Dany will be with this but it's a necessary move. Probably my favorite scene in this episode other than the last one obviously, loved hearing Tyrion's story about being a kid and wanting a dragon. They like Tyrion and he likes them so hopefully we'll see Tyrion riding a dragon soon :)
βONTO THE WALL
So Melisandre is going through a bit of an identity crisis having basically led an entire people into the dirt over her "visions" but this is sure to get her going again. Finding a new power she never knew she had before has to be a big confidence booster for this busty-red priest. Bringing Jon back from the dead means 2 things to me. One that there's no way Sansa gets to him in time, if I've learned anything from this show, it's that all of Jon's timing is terrible. Ned tells Jon he'll find out who his mom is next time they meet, Ned promptly dies. Robb Stark goes to war not even a couple weeks after Jon swears his life to never leave the wall. Jon goes North as a wildling towards the wall and Bran can spit on him from the windmill and they don't find each other. You get the point... As far as predictions go for Jon? I'm sorta at a loss for them here I'm honestly just hoping he wrecks Ser Allister Thorne and rips Ollie's fucking eyes out of his sockets Mountain style even though I know neither of those things are going to happen.
So now that Jon is alive I doubt Sansa finds him, and with Ramsay inevitably marching North sooner rather than later with the full force of the North it honestly probably isn't the best place for her to be either. My guess is that somehow they find out about this before they reach the wall, or they hear that Jon is dead and go to the Eyrie where she still has relatives and also where Littlefinger can still get to her and protect her. I guess this because, in one of the preseason trailers Brianne is shown in the Eyrie. So I'm guessing they change course over some point in the next few episodes. That's all for this week guys thanks for reading, hope you liked this episode as much as I did. I look forward to discussing this next weeks episode and future episodes to come. βAnd remember.... Winter is Coming Comments are closed.
