Looks like I am the one to review the first episode of season six of GOT. Obvious SPOILERS, so read accordingly. Gonna keep it light.
I am gonna start with the elephant in the room, more like the goblin. Everything almost blew up when the final scene of episode one faded to credits. The grotesque image of the Red Womans decaying teets were almost too much for the internet to handle.
I missed it live and ended up watching it around 12 last night. Red couldn't wait to tell me about it. I drove him back to school last night. Just a little bit after the live episode ended, and the second thing he said to me was "Can I tell about the last part of the episode?.. It won't ruin anything but its fucked up". He told me and of course it didn't ruin the episode. If anything it got me hype to see what the fuck was gonna happen. It gave a couple theories, but I figured once I watched the episode that it was very unlikely. My main theory was Red womans necklace was gonna resurrect Jon Snow. Or that it had something to do with resurrecting him, I don't think so now. What I think now, that could equally be as wrong as my first theory, is Jon Snow will be fighting at Winterfell and he will come back. How? you ask? Jon Snow will become a white walker. The nights watch will fall this season. The White Walkers will obliterate them, either the White Walkers or the Wildings who will rally around Jon Snows death. As I write this, it becomes clearer and clearer to me. The Wildings will destroy Castle Black and by the time the White Walkers come through, the wall and anyone guarding it is destroyed. No one ends up burning Jon Snows body, and every body that is not burned in the north becomes a walker or at least can be.
Again that could be totally wrong, I hope it isn't and it might not be. Most fans know that the tv show has diverged from the book. At this point, they are no longer on a parallel universe. Which is good because I have had multiple friends who have ruined and have tried to ruin huge moments of the series. Doing something like this has to be in response to something, I don't know maybe a guy murdered your cat, so you ruin Friday Night Lights for them. The spoiler attacks ravaged upon me were unprovoked. Making it probably the most annoying thing someone can do. I literally had almost 3 seasons ruined for me when a "buddy" of mine told me in the middle of Season 1 that King Geoffrey dies, also he threw in the time, the place. Oh yea and for good measure he told me how.
Real cool dude right there, real cool. Sorry not everyone is a loser and reads books. I had better things to do, like I don't know, watch the book on a screen. I think that was the worst, and one of two times a "guy" spoiled the series. The other time, I was told that something called the Red Wedding was coming. Nothing else just the Red Wedding and that it was coming. This was told to me for a similar reason. The "friend" asked me if I wanted to know something that wouldn't ruin anything about GOT. I said fuck off, I don't wanna hear anymore annoying spoilers. This happened after the Geoffrey death reveal. Instead of listen to me, the "buddy" just kept buzzing around that question. He kept asking it over and over again but in a bunch of different ways. I didn't budge, fuck that. He can talk, I don't have to listen. Eventually "guy" reached the tipping point of bitchness and blurted out the red wedding. Anyway, one thing I noticed that has to be important has to do with the Lord of the Light. Earlier in the series we were shown the great feats of the Lord of the Light, he created a shadow baby, he prevents the red woman from dying in an attempt at her life, he revives the leader of the brotherhood of no banners. We have been shown all these things and all the power that he possess. What we haven't seen is any of his visions in the fire. Never have we seen anything in the fire, nor has any of the visions stemmed from the fire came true. That has to be intentional. The red woman taking off the necklace represents her trying to see things for what they, to really try and get a grasp of her situation. The writers say it in the "inside the episode" part after the credits (If you want to see those, go on HBO GO). The two large things shes seen in the fire have ultimately become null. Her prophecy showed Stannius as the king of the Iron Throne, and something about Jon Snow that lead her to believe he would do big things. Both of them are now dead.
From the trailers and this episode, a lot of characters have been struggling through bleak moments. One whose story could quickly get better is that of Sansa. She was seen in the Season 6 trailers standing watching over something in traditional Stark garb. My guess? She is watching the North destroy the Boltons.
I haven't liked Sansas story to this point. It has been boring and slow. Every time we see her, she is reliant on the strength of others to keep her safe, I doubt that changes. The one thing I will say though, is that I am very excited to see how this mini Sansa Stark v. Bolton war goes. There is no way it doesn't happen. The Boltons need total control of the North, and Sansa wants Winterfell back. She also probably wants revenge.
My final thought from the episode is how scary is the mountain gonna be. I wonder when they will show his brute strength to us.
