a blog by Big Red Farewell to one of, if not THE best Power Forward to ever play the game. Your time in this league will be greatly missed. Today the basketball world says goodbye to Tim Duncan, potentially the greatest PF to ever step foot on a basketball court. As the heart of the Spurs for the last 19 seasons, Duncan helped lead his team to 19 consecutive playoff appearances and 5 championships. As the number one pick in the 1997 draft, Tim Duncan entered the league and made an immediate impact. Some of Tim Duncan's accolades: -15 time all star - 2 MVP awards - 3 time NBA Finals MVP - 10 time first team all NBA - 1 of just 3 players to win over 1000 games - 5th all time in blocked shots - 6th all time in rebounds - 14th all time in scoring WOW. Talk about a crazy list of accomplishments in 19 years of action. To say Tim Duncan will be missed is such an understatement. The way he fundamentally played the game, and wasn't all about being flashy or cocky or in your face, will forever make Tim Duncan one of my favorite players. There is so much you can say about him, but one of the best possible qualities is his loyalty to the Spurs organization. Not many guys these days are humble enough to take less money to stay with the team they love. Just look at Dwayne Wade for an example, the guy has been in a Heat jersey his whole life, and is beyond loved by his fans there. Yet, 1000% due to money, Dwayne left for the bulls organization, a team that will probably do worse than the Heat next season. Tim Duncan was a first class act, and definitely a no brainer when the phrase "hall of fame" comes to mind. Farewell Tim Duncan your presence in this league will always be missed.
