a blog by La Kifo My biggest problem with one of my favorite game franchises is the painfully slow releases of their DLCs. This is the third add-on to the critically acclaimed game. While it may be the third add-on, it is the first that comes with a fully integrated story, and boy does it look awesome. Here is the trailer, Like I said this looks amazing. Usually Fallout and Bethesda never miss on their DLCs. I can't remember the last time I played a Bethesda game with shit DLCs. Even in the widely hated Fallout: New Vegas had really fun and deep DLCs.
Let's dive into the guts of this DLC. It is based off of the shores of Maine on a slightly settled island. The factions that we see in the trailer are the Children of Atom. Personally I was wondering what the hell this faction had to do with the story arch of Fallout 4. There are no quest lines in the main game that can tie you to the Children of Atom. You can not even befriend the faction, as everytime you encounter them outside of the Glowing Sea they attack you with impunity. A big problem that I and a lot of others have had with Fallout 4 is that you cannot align yourself with the more devious factions. In the earlier games, becoming evil was a much easier task. As you could become apart of the Bandits, Caesars Legion, or the Great Khans. I really wonder if they will allow us to join the Children of Atom, because I would really love to see what kind of crazy shit they have deep inside their lore. Obviously, there are more factions than just the Children of Atom we just do not know who they are. What I am guessing based on the scope of the game, we won't be able to play alongside the Children of Atom and we will be fighting against them as they try and take control of the island our characters find ourselves on. Without any concrete details being released all we can do is speculate but I am fairly confident that my prediction is right. It just wouldn't make sense. The whole scope of this game/lesson this game tries to teach is doing things for the greater good and living with the consequences. I am gonna move past the speculation and into what we actually see in the trailer. It doesn't take a eagle eye to notice all the new mutant insects and enemies. They look crazy and scary. What might take a more concentrated mind to see is a couple new weapons. If you stop the trailer at 1:00 you can see a gun that your character is holding in a V.A.T.S. slo-mo shot. I can't really tell if that is a new gun or something we have already seen. To me it looks somewhat new, kind of like a submachine gun without a round drum, but it is much smaller. I hope this is a sign that along with the new enemies, there will be a host of new weapons that follow. Then if you stop the trailer at 1:02, you can see an odd looking gun in the first person view of your character. It has a hand grip coming out of the left hand side of it, and I am 100% certain this is something we are yet to play with. Also it shows a pretty cool camera shot of a weird ass tentacle beast. Another pretty easy to spot new item, is this sort of scuba suit at 0:28. Probably the least cool of the new items but still it's something. I can't wait for this DLC to come out, I also can't wait to actually have time to play it. I most likely won't be able to buy or play this for a while. So if anyone wants to get all over it, tweet at us you're thoughts. I would like to know how it looks before I pay for it. Comments are closed.
