a blog by La Kifo In a turn of a events I did not see coming at all, Dominique Easley has been cut from the Pats roster. Huge bust for the Patriots and it really hurts. Especially since we traded away Chandler Jones and lost Akiem Hicks to free agency. They still have Allan Branch and Malcolm Brown. This move apparently happened because of Easleys injury prone nature. Apparently when he was injured, Easley and his camp lacked communication and the team was sick of it.
I guess by the standards listed, this move makes sense. It just sucks that they gambled on him in the first place. A lot of people right now are saying he was supposed to be a top-10 pick but the double ACL injuries ultimately made him drop. At pick 29, it is not uncommon to take risk picks like Easley. The problem is he was not a top 10 talent without the injuries, he was more in the range of 12-24. He was almost exactly the same story as Daquan Bowers when he came out of Clemson with knee problems and fell into the second round. Easley could have easily, ha ha, fell into the second round. He probably would have been taken at the top half of that round because he did have talent and a good work ethic. Gotta roll with the punches though, we won the Superbowl without him, pretty much gone business as usual without the guy so I am not worried. It is not like having Easley on the roster would have filled the hole we have on the defensive line. The Pats didnt want em so I dont want em. I think and hope this means they will go after a defensive end with one of their second round picks. This is a deep draft for defensive players so there will be quality players on the board by the time the Pats are on the clock. Comments are closed.
