Do you remember when Peyton Manning was cut from the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos signed him? Do you remember what number Manning had been wearing for near his entire career? 18. Fun fact the number 18 was actually already retired before Peyton Manning even came to Denver. Frank Tripucka. Does anyone remember who he was? I do not think so. Because Frank Tripucka was the Denver Broncos first quarterback EVER. Tripucka played for the upstart Broncos in the AFL. His first season was in 1962. He was a pretty good quarterback, in his time he was considered to be great. He played fifteen seasons of professional football. The story of how he came to be Denvers first quarterback is long and not that interesting. Basically played for a few teams, then in 1960 the AFL was created, a separate league from the NFL competing for viewership and talent. One of Tripucka's old coaches brought him in to be an assistant coach. The team ended up with quarterback problems and Tripucka was inserted into a preseason game became the starter and did not look back for 4 seasons. Cool fact about him, the first professional quarterback to throw for over 3,000 yards in a season. This was in 1960s. I know that Tripucka before he died was fine with it. I think he was. Still though. The guy was put in your stadiums ring of honor since the 80s. 30 years of tradition thrown the drain for the most the dispensible quarterback performance of a super bowl winning team ever. Dick move people. Tripucka died the year after they gave his number away. Now I am not saying anything but I might be. I guess I hate Peyton Manning again. I have been going through stages with guy. Tell em Katy. I have been tearing Manning to shreds recently. Fuck it though. Too many people ride him to sunset anyway. I know it is typical homer behavior, typical. I'd rather be called a homer then give Peyton Manning any more undeserved praise. Comments are closed.
