a blog by Iron Horse Clay Buccholz looks to start the year new, as the pitcher we all know he can be.... I think Red Sox Game 2:
Clay Buccholz vs. Carlos Carrasco Both proven pitchers at the top of their games. Clay Buccholz posted a 2.02 in his last 11 starts of the season last year after sustaining an injury to his throwing arm in July of last season. Carrasco on the other hand is set to have a solid year as the 2 in the 1-2 punch after former Cy Young winner Corey Kluber. Carrasco posted the 5th most strikeouts in the American League last year and is not about to slow down anytime soon. This right hander sits 94-96mph on his fastball with a nice slider he relies on heavily as his strikeout pitch. THINGS TO WATCH: Watch for Travis Shaw to continue to swing the bat today, yesterday he went 2 for 5 which is a solid day but in his other 3 at bats was struck out all 3 times. So watch today to see if he is a little more passive at the plate late in the count or down. Also for Mookie Betts to continue to play his game, the stud outfielder had a highlight of a defensive play in RF as well as 2 run shot to get the offense started for the Red Sox. Last but most definitely not least, the Red Sox red flag (for lack of a better term) this season definitely looks to be in the rotation after Price. Buccholz and Kelly are the question marks, both have massive potential but have failed to prove themselves through an entire regular season and postseason push. Comments are closed.
