a blog by Iron Horse Finally people can stop speculating and pretending they’re fucking experts. This whole last 2-3 weeks people have been buzzing around talking about how we need to fire Claude, Cam Neely, and basically just blow up the Boston Bruins organization. Now I don’t want to seem like I’m in love with Claude because I’m not. But I’ve touched on this topic previously.... Who else in this NHL would you rather have (that’s available) than Claude. Claude Julien is the winningest Bruins coach in the Original 6 team’s history in 92 years hockey at 392-223-88 .621%). The Bruins have won a Stanley Cup, a Presidents Trophy, and made 2 finals appearances with Julien behind the bench. The Boston Bruins are in a bit of trouble this offseason while we did make some moves this season to clear up cap space. But not enough to keep key top forwards like Lee Stempniak and Loui Eriksson. Which will no doubt hurt us not to mention our blue line just got a year older and needs a major facelift if we even want to sniff playoff contention next year. This year Claude fucked up royally though down the stretch with his decision making. Not putting key players in earlier in the year. First off, Trotman and Morrow have shown time and again they are not better than Colin Miller in my opinion; I’d love to see more of him next year. Instead of taking this year as a rebuilding year like we all saw it at the beginning of the season, we came out pretty hot and Claude along with the Bruins front office decided that this team could make a run. What really grinds my gears here is that we wasted minutes on guys like Chara and Seidenberg who are clearly on their way out, instead of giving those crucial learning minutes to guys that need them. Next year if Zdeno Chara plays anything over 15-18 minutes we will be a laughing stock. Instead of giving guys like Trotman, K Miller, C Miller, and Trotman time this year against top lines we babied them for a shot at the playoffs. This needs to change next year, or our fantastic farm system will be just that, a great minor league team. I talked about the D there for a minute now I want to switch to forwards who need to be on the ice from day 1 next year. Their names are as follows, Frank Vatrano, David Pastrnak, Tyler Randell and Noel Accari. These guys all played fantastic minutes but only when they were given the chance. I’m especially excited to see more of Tyler Randell and Noel Accari, both seem to fit the core of a Boston Bruins. They play the game hard in the corners, don’t shy away from the body and don’t take stupid shots. Claude will return for his 10th year in the fall, and I honestly pray that we get some of the pieces on D we need to make this team a contender again or we’ll be in this same terrible loop next spring of calling for Claude’s head and wanting to wipe all the personnel in the organization.
