a blog by La Kifo It has been a big few days for the movie industry. A lot of announcements have crawled out of the crevices of the internet. This news, however, is large since Marvel Studios informed the sheeple that Captain Marvel will be the first female lead role in their franchise. Who better to play Captain Marvel than Brie Larson, Brie Larson = Bae. Mark it down gentlemen, that is the first time I have ever used the non-word bae, and probably the last. Variety: After winning the best actress Oscar for “Room,” Brie Larson has her sights on another marvelous role. Sources tell Variety Larson is in early talks to play Captain Marvel, one of Marvel’s most popular female superheroes, in an upcoming standalone film. It’s unknown where negotiations stand, but sources have told Variety that Larson is their first choice, and that she’s leaning toward playing the part. Marvel had no comment on the story. No director is currently on board. Marvel, however, had always planned to have an actress lined up early, with the idea of possibly introducing her in one of its upcoming films before its “Captain Marvel” movie bows. It has to be impossible not to love Brie Larson. She is absolute fire in every movie I've seen her in. Match that talent with extreme beauty, and a star is born. Marvel studios must have been listening when I was bitching about them and every other production company scheduled to create more of these super hero movies. I honestly had seen enough when they cast Olivia Munn in the new X-Men. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing dimes up on the big screen but where I draw the line is making them dress up in ridiculous costumes and make them pretend to take whatever shit bag of a script, seriously.
Brie Larson could be a perfect fit the Marvel Cinematic universe since she has the looks and the talent. I would compare her being casted, to Robert Downing Jr. for Iron Man. Downing Jr. is a talented actor who also has the lead role looks that pull in the tweenagers. Downing Jr.s Iron Man has been an overall success, as his interpretation of the character has made for very entertaining solo movies as well as large collaborations, like the Avengers movies and Civil War. I don't want to get overly excited, since this is essentially just a rumor at this stage. But if they eventually do cast Brie, then I might have to jump back into the Marvel side of things.
