a blog by La Kifo If you haven't seen 'Making a Murderer' the 10-part Netflix documentary on the investigation and trial of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey, then go watch it. Today marks an historic day, a day in which justice has prevailed over blatant corruption. A federal judge, Magistrate Judge William Duffin, overturned the murder conviction placed upon Brendan Dassey in the 2007 murder case of Teresa Halbach. Dassey has been serving a life sentence since 2007, now he is set for release in the next 90 days. Yet, he was only 16 and with a learning disability he was coerced, faced conspiracy between his lawyer and the prosecution all while thrown in prison for a crime/murder he obviously didn't do.
I'm not gonna recap or explain in detail more about this case since there is a great documentary series on Netflix that does it much better than I could. What I am saying is Fuck Manitowoc County, Fuck Ken Ratz Kratz and his propensity for sexual harrasment, and Fuck the Justice system because it really doesn't work. I don't need to list specifically case after case of misguiding rulings and judgements but search your memory right now. Think about big court cases you've followed in your life, do any ring a bell? Can you remember more than a couple large scale, or small, court cases that ended with an insane ruling? I can. I can remember more than I want to, and it disgusts me. This isn't a self help book, I don't have an answer or solution, there is no introspection here. I don't understand a lot about life, this world, or even the people in this country but right now is a time that I wish I did. I would love to get behind a false conviction, rally behind a corrupt county and department of justice. There is no one I have ever encountered that I wanted to root for more than weasel face Ken Kratz, but for some fucked up reason, I just can't. Comments are closed.
