Recently news has come through the pipeline, informing us that Conor McGregor will no longer compete in the high anticipated rematch against Nate Diaz in UFC 200.
The details behind this are unclear at this time.
By unclear I do mean, incredibly curious. McGregor did get paid a lot for an MMA person. But MMA athletes dont earn big. McGregor reportedly made near 8 million for his fight against Jose Aldo. He also earned a guaranteed 1 million for his fight against Nate Diaz.
So did he really make a lot of money? Not in the grand scheme of other athletes. Money Mayweather made a stupid amount of money for his final real fight against Manny Paccacio.
According to ESPN, McGregor did not want to take part in the pre fight promotional videos and media in Las Vegas, which led to his dismal from UFC 200. Conor reportedly thought that leaving at the time would inhibit his training.
Kinda crazy way to end a career. Lose a fight out of his weight class, bail on the promotions that he seems to always love, get kicked from his fight. Just as mysteriously as he came, he was gone. Bye bye Conor, you always fucked up my prefight bets. I just hope there are other fighters to pick some good slack he is possibly leaving behind. I am sure he will have a larger explanation in the days or weeks to come. I will stick by this and keep everyone up to date. Comments are closed.
