a blog by Big Red Look out world, the Celtics are about to make some moves. Early today, Celtics Co Owner and Managing Partner Wyc Grousbeck, wrote a letter to season ticket holders announcing the contract extensions of Brad Stevens and Danny Ainge. Happy Hump Day Celtics lovers. This is some really good news for us, and I'll tell you why. While we all know Danny Ainge probably wasn't going anywhere, we did not know this with Brad Stevens. Brad has been reviewed as one of the top coaches in the league, and is highly admired by his peers. He's one of the main reasons the Celtics rebuild lasted a year.
Stevens was already half way through his contract, and there were definitely a few rumors spreading around the mill, that Stevens might leave the Celtics after his contract was up. So I am beyond happy to know that we got him for a few more years. What does this mean as far as making moves? Glad you asked. With Trader Danny and Stevens contract extensions, this adds value to the Celtics in the free agent market. We all know Durant is potentially looking to change teams, and while I don't think he's going to come to Boston, this certainly helps our case. This opens up the opportunity for the Celtics to sign a guy like Jimmy Butler or Demarcus Cousins. Not to mention, the Celtics now have the number 3 pick, along with a slew of other first and second round selections in the next 3 drafts. Hopefully Trader Danny can work some magic and try to get another star in Boston to help support our already proven Isaiah Thomas. Keep your eyes peeled for some Celtics news in the upcoming weeks, as I have a feeling Trader Danny might just make a move. Comments are closed.
