In another blockbuster deal the Cleveland Browns trade the 2nd overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles.
This deal will rival the deal Rams packaged for the 1st overall pick in the upcoming draft. Philadelphia traded the the 8th pick, the 77th (3rd round, 13th pick), the 100th (4th round, 4th pick) of 2016 draft, the teams 1st round pick in 2017 and their 2nd round pick in 2018. The Browns in return sent the 2nd overall pick and their 4th round pick.
Yea, the Eagles traded away almost the entire front half of their draft this year, and high picks the next two years. I really wonder who they are giving so much away for. There is no way the Eagles should draft QB, they just signed Sam Bradford back and Chase Daniel. Chase Daniel kinda sucks but he is getting paid way too much money for all this to be for Carson Wentz. If that is what they do then.. Sorry Phili. Go ahead and think they are drafting QB, Doug Pederson you can even think your drafting QB, but you shouldn't. If you can get Goff, then it might be worth it, still this team won't improve the next 3 years if they do.
The potiential prospects are Joey Bosa, Jalen Ramsey, Miles Jack. Other top prospects they would pass on have to be Laremy Tunsil, they already have two good tackles. Then DeForest Buckner, it is between Buckner and Bosa for best defensive linemen in the draft and the edge goes to Bosa. Buckner could have fallen to 8, while Bosa would not make it past 4 where the Dallas Cowboys sit. Bosa is interesting for Philly, some pundits say he's a no brainer, eventual star in the NFL. Those people are right. Hes a great versatile inside linemen. In college they could put him inside playing more of a defensive tackle position and put him on the edge like a defensive end. A lot of the best NFL Dlinemen do that exact thing, we will have to see if his skills can translate into both roles. What I really like about Bosa is his football IQ, he really knows how to position himself and work offensive linemen. He identifies run or pass almost subconsciously. Players who do it as well as he does in college usually have success in the NFL. What doesnt seem to fit is Phili's roster. Phili has some high paid players at DE, Connor Barwin, average annual salary of 6 million, Vinny Curry, whose average annual salary comes in a little under 10 million, lastly there is Fletcher Cox, whose base salary in 2016 will be around 8 million. I dont think Jalen Ramsey will be the Eagles pick simply because they just gave Rodney McLeod a big contract and they already have Malcolm Jenkins big contract on the books. The Eagles also have a lot of defensive backs signed to contracts, and a decent amount of money tied to them. It would be one of the last things I would expect the Eagles to do with their pick. I like Jalen Ramsey but he wont be in Phili. Then there is Miles Jack. Miles Jack injured his knee during his final season at Cal. He decided to rehab on his own in preparation for the NFL draft. Miles is a big time player with serious talent. He was lined up on the edge, then later put out in the slot to cover receivers. Super versatile and athletic player. He reminds me of Jamie Collins. The only problem with Jack is the knee injury, but as far as knees go these days if it has not been a reoccurring thing up to this point then one or two is fine. Players have come back from that. It has to be between Jack and Bosa, for me those are the best picks. Any of the names I mentioned, Jalen Ramsey, Carson Wentz, Jared Goff could be taken there All those guys are thought to be top 5 draft talent. Anyone else would make the trade disastrous for the team. Offensive + defensive line, secondary are all major needs for the top 10 teams this year, not a lot of those teams NEED a QB. There is a lot that the Eagles can do to screw this up, and not a lot they can do to nail it. UPDATE: Just in case some people didn't believe me, here's a quote from the Eagles owner
That is basically a guarantee they are not going QB at #2.
Suck on that. I'm not doing this for me people, I am doing it for you. Being the best isn't just about being right one time, it is about being right all the time.
That is all.
