a blog by La Kifo A Florida family was mysteriously charged for a large amount of porn. The family claimed that they were not in fact renting porn from their cable box, but Comcast, unsurprisingly, did not believe the family and continued to charge them for the porn. Looks like nothings changed at the Xfinity offices. They are still doing stupid shit and acting like dicks, pun intended.
ABC Tampa: The Overstreet family says it is rare for them to order any kind of pay-per-view movies. But on March 30, Alyssa Overstreet woke up to an unusual email. The email from her cable provider Comcast thanked her for her middle of the night movie order. Overstreet called to report the error and found out she’d been charged for an adult film she says she never ordered. Over the next three weeks, Comcast charged the Overstreets for about 20 of these films. Comcast customers for eight years,Alyssa and Jason say their purchase history proves they do not order adult movies. We went to bat for the Overstreets, but Comcast pushed back with this email: "The box that is sending the authorization signal to order on-demand movies is the box that is assigned to the account." Fed up, these customers canceled Comcast and shipped back the equipment. The UPS receipt shows they returned the cable box April 7. Days later on April 10, 11 and 12, Comcast billed the couple for more adult movies. So I went back to the company. This time the cable giant explained they'd discovered a data stream error. Comcast called the situation unique and apologized for what happened. Comcast credited the Overstreets $240 for the movies and paid their final cable bill. I have never really had a huge problem with Comcast. I've been using their services for near 18 years now. The extent of my problems have been shitty WiFi range and non durable remotes. So I don't know why everybody hates these guys so much. If businesses were obligated to take their customers word as gospel then our economy would be in the dumper like Johnny Manziel. Just the other day, Red and I ordered takeout from a pizza place, and a different pizza place delivered us a neighbors order. We, very confused at what was happening, paid the delivery driver and thought that we had just gotten oddly lucky. I proceeded to read the receipt and look at the contents of the bags. It took us less than a minute to realize how fucking stupid the delivery driver was as the order was meant for a house literally across the street. We gave the driver $26, so when we went to the restaurant to inform them of their stupidity, the owner did not fully understand. The guy reembursed us $25, not the full $26. Even after near 5 minutes of explanation, he jipped us $1. If the heavily accented owner of a small pizza place won't take our word for it, then would should a large company like Comcast? Maybe because proving a customer is not in fact ordering massive amounts of porn is easier than figuring out how a school drop out delivery driver fucked up. I mean I would like to think that Comcasts employees are a little more qualified than delivery drivers, but who knows. These cable boxes send out signals that authorize charges put on the account linked to those specific cable boxes. How hard can it be to figure out which cable boxes are sending signals and which are not? Probably just a little bit harder than reading the numbers on a mailbox. Comments are closed.
