Villanova wins on last second buzzer beater 3; Villanova 77- UNC 74. It was Villanova's 2nd title in school history, with their last one coming in 1985.
It So I think it's safe to say no one saw that ending coming. I honestly thought it would be close throughout the whole game, and I thought one of them would break away at the end. Never in my life did I expect to see back to back last second threes. I'm sure all of us expected to see Villanova get a decent look for 3 at the end, but instead they got a wide open look and Kris Jenkins knocked it down. I can't keep watching those two vines back. Marcus Paige's 3 was nuts. He jumped so high, and took one of the most awkward like floater type 3. I had money on UNC last night, and to say I got loud when that 3 went in is such an understatement. I thought for sure the Tar Heels would fire back with all that momentum in OT, but then again that's why this tournament is called March Madnesss. It's always unpredictable. So lets talk a little bit more about the game.
Even Jordan had to give his respect to that Jenkins 3. It was nice to see him not crying for once.
So, something I'm sure we were all expecting was that the first few minutes of the game would be bad basketball. It always is, it's the National Championship, and the guys just get the nerves out in the first minute or so. However, the opening minutes of this game were even worse than I expected. I've been reading twitter all morning, and even a few different write up about last night games, and to say UNC fans are butthurt is such an understatement. Every single UNC fan won't stop complaining about the officiating. I think every game in history has had a few bad calls, it's impossible to get every call right. Of course UNC fan's can't just give NOVA this game. They were outplayed in the second half and it seemed clear to me.
Senior Ryan Arcidiacono had a great game last night, scoring in a number of ways. That spin move in the paint in the last few minutes, was so beautiful, I think everyone expected him to nail that shot. He just had that confidence in the second half, I think we all noticed it. All in all I thought this was such an exciting game, and I was kept on my toes throughout the whole game. Because not that many individual highlight plays have been released yet, I will attach the an 8 minute clip with the full highlights of the game at the bottom.
The last thing I'm going to post is a quick vine from Arcidiacono's interview. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can totally see this douchebag playing side by side with Grayson Allen.
